Havan has just been awarded as the best retail company in the “Melhores e Maiores” edition of Exame Magazine. It is the first time that Havan has received this recognition, which is considered the “Oscar” of Brazilian companies. The award is in its 47th edition and last year, the company had been in second place among the best in retail.
For the owner of Havan, Luciano Hang, the award is the culmination of a work dedicated to customers in the company’s 34 years. “The company invests every year in technology and innovation, but our main investment is in our employees. I dedicate this award to them. This award is the result of their commitment”, he declares.
The ceremony to publicize the elected took place on Thursday, 18th, and was broadcast on YouTube. In the ranking of the largest companies by revenue, Havan ranked 88th in 2020, jumping 31 positions compared to last year.
The Accounting, Actuarial and Financial Research Institute Foundation (FIPECAFI) is responsible for the criteria and preparation of the ranking. More than 3,000 companies that stood out in 20 sectors of the economy are evaluated. The award is the result of a careful evaluation of the data. Information on the performance of the Santa Catarina retailer in 2019 was analyzed, data that were disclosed in the Official Gazette until June 30, 2020.
The criteria used by the technical team were the success that companies had in conducting their business and in the market dispute with competitors in the past year, compared to the previous year, growth rate, profitability, financial health, market share and productivity per employee.
In addition, in this edition Exame included a new category, the popular vote, by which Brazilians were able to choose the company with the best performance in 2020, a year with many challenges.

Havan currently has 152 stores in 17 Brazilian states, with units measuring between 5,000 and 40,000 square meters built. But the beginning, in the mid-1980s, was with a 45 square meter unit and one collaborator in the city of Brusque.
